What actually sells

The patterns that convert, from the data rather than from theory.

Direct links to a single piece outperform links to your shop, consistently and by a lot. A shop link asks a shopper to browse; a piece link puts her on the checkout page. Share the shop when someone asks what you use, and share the piece when you are talking about the piece.

Say the same thing more than once. A shopper rarely buys the first time she sees something, and the second mention costs you nothing.

Tag where you shared it. The Links tab groups your earnings by channel, so after a few weeks you will know whether your newsletter is worth more than your Stories. Most creators are surprised by the answer.

  • Recurring series work: a monthly round-up, a weekly find, what you actually finished.
  • Answering a question with a link works better than posting a link unprompted.
  • Evergreen edits keep earning: a gift guide written in November still sells in December next year.
